Pacific elects two new Regents to governing board

Evan Dreyfuss, a chartered financial analyst and investment manager, and Eve M. Kurtin, a venture capitalist specializing in the healthcare sector, have been elected to three-year terms on University of the Pacific's Board of Regents. Both are Pacific alumni. 

"Mr. Dreyfuss and Dr. Kurtin have had long and successful careers in the finance and venture capital arenas, and bring tremendous experience and expertise," said board chair Kathleen Lagorio Janssen. "They will be invaluable in guiding Pacific as we strive to best serve our students and position our university for the future. We are indeed fortunate to welcome these accomplished leaders to our governing board." 

Their terms will begin on July 1 and conclude on June 30, 2018.

Regent Evan DreyfussEvan Dreyfuss 

Dreyfuss earned a B.S. with honors in business administration from the Eberhardt School of Business at Pacific in 1986. He is a chartered financial analyst and portfolio manager with Twin Lake Total Return Partners at RMB Capital, an independent investment advisory firm with offices in Chicago, Denver, Jackson Hole and Washington, D.C. His career has also included management positions at Talon Asset Management, Seneca Capital Management and several other investment firms. 

He and his wife, Elizabeth Dreyfuss, live outside Syracuse, New York. Dreyfuss is a trustee and treasurer of the Manlius Pebble Hill School in Dewitt, New York, an independent college preparatory school founded in 1869. Two of the couple's three children attend the school. He is also a member of the board of directors of the Burrows Paper Corporation in Little Falls, New York, and serves on the finance committee of the Skaneateles-based Allyn Foundation, a private philanthropic organization with a mission of improving the quality of life in Central New York. He is past president and a member for nine years of the Skaneateles Board of Education in Skaneateles, New York. 

As an alumnus, Dreyfuss has served on university commissions, committees and advisory boards. In 1999, he returned to Pacific as a guest lecturer for two finance classes in the Eberhardt School of Business.

Regent Eve KurtinEve M. Kurtin

Kurtin earned her doctorate in pharmacy from University of the Pacific in 1976. She is managing director with Pacific Venture Group LP in Encino, California, a venture capital company specializing in private equity and venture capital investments in the healthcare industry. Her career accomplishments also including founding and serving as past CEO of Physician Venture Management, leading Kurtin Communications as CEO and president, and serving as vice president of American Medical International. 

Kurtin and her husband, Dr. Michael Steinberg, live in the Los Angeles area. She serves on the board of directors of several healthcare foundations and corporations and is a founding member of the RAND Health Board of Advisors. 

Her extensive community involvement includes serving on the boards of the Union for Reform Judaism and the World Alliance for Israel Political Action Committee.  She is the political chair for Southern California for the American Israel Public Affairs Committee and co-chair of KOREH LA, a literacy program of the Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles. She is a past president of the Stephen S. Wise Temple in Los Angeles.
