Connie X. Rishwain elected to University of the Pacific Board of Regents

Nov 30, 2015

Connie Rishwain, a 1979 graduate of University of the Pacific who catapulted the UGG shearling boot into a global brand with more than $1.5 billion in revenues, has been elected to the university’s governing board for a three-year term beginning July 2016.

Rishwain, a Santa Barbara resident, served as the president of UGG Australia from 2002 through 2015 and led the brand’s growth since 1999 from a niche surfer boot to an award-winning, must-have lifestyle footwear brand sported by celebrities and featured on “Oprah’s Favorite Things” several times. She has also been group president of Deckers Lifestyle Brands since 2014, a past president of the company's Simple division, and was an executive officer of publicly held Deckers Brands for over 20 years.

“We are fortunate to welcome Connie Rishwain to the university’s Board of Regents. Her leadership, vision and commitment to making a difference in the lives of others will be a tremendous asset as we strive to make Pacific an even stronger institution for our students and our region,” said Board of Regents Chair Kathleen Lagorio Janssen.

During her tenure, Rishwain implemented the UGG brand’s socially responsible commitment to children in need. One such outreach was Art and Sole, a program where celebrities customize boots that were auctioned online to support St. Jude Children’s

Research Hospital. Rishwain also sits on the board of K.I.D.S. (Kids in Distressed Situations)–Fashion Delivers, which has distributed more than $1 billion in products to children impacted by poverty or tragedy.

In October, Rishwain was a featured speaker at the second Advancing Women’s Leadership Forum at University of the Pacific, a sold-out event designed to inspire and empower future leaders.

Rishwain is a graduate of Stockton’s Stagg High School and completed a bachelor’s degree in history at Pacific in three years. She is married to Jeff Rishwain and is the mother of two children, Alec and Demetra.
